Dear friends, well wishers and readers, On behalf of team tharunam, we wish you all a Very happy New Year. Let this New Year shower us with love, enthusiasm and more prosperous regenerative farming ecosystem. As usual, we are keeping our energies high for sustainable food production and climate action commitments. In the last three months, we have seen paradigm shift on agroforestry farming practice in my village and we have an exciting updates. The agroforestry farm which kanthari participants visited during the last quarter are in fruiting stage now. Transition is hard! Obviously changing governing principles of decades old practices are time consuming, testing of patience and hard work. However, change is inevitable, only the key is transition process. Yes! Several questions were in our mind when we thought of developing such model in this village.   Your farm will become feed for open grazing animals! Your farm is surrounded by paddy fields, so water clottage hurts the plants! How can you safeguard your plants which are far away from village? All p...

Few months ago, we imagined how our farm would look like in terms of crop diversity and forestry. Our imaginations are turning into right direction while small plants are energizing themselves to become forestry despite many challenges. 10 Months old mango plant Flowering stage of kashmir Ber Now, our plants have entered into 10th month. Initially monsoon showers helped plants to survive and to come out from weather shock. The mango plants which were planted in 40 feet * 40 feet distance are growing healthily without any diseases. However, the fight between citrus plants and caterpillars is still happening. We believe if we could support citrus plants, they can overhand caterpillar attacks. We were lucky to see the first harvest of the Kashmir ber fruits two months ago. The...
